Dress For Success Project
Local editor of the blog Well to Do, You, Susan Stephenson, announced today that she is teaming up with Maine-based L.L. BEAN SIGNATURE for the first ever Dress to Impress Project.
This project is aimed at encouraging women to make their best personal and professional impression on the outside — especially when looking for a job. Stephenson will wear the same L.L. Bean Signature dress every day for the month of January 2012 in an effort to rebuild her career. She is offering retailers, designers, Etsy artisans, and fashion students the opportunity to accessorize the dress. Each day, Stephenson will showcase what she is wearing in her daily blog posts on welltodoyou.com.
All donated items—from shoes to handbags to jewelry—will be donated to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that provides women in need with suits, accessories, and a great big confidence boost to help in their own career development.
“I’m honored and excited to be working with L.L. BEAN SIGNATURE and all the other participants who have expressed interest in lending their styling ideas for a ‘daily look,’” said Stephenson. “Making your best possible impression is paramount when seeking employment.”
Stephenson went on to say that this project aspires to prove to women everywhere that no matter what their budget is, they can dress for success with what they already have at home, or with a few key accessories, and feel confident about it.
Stephenson’s looks will reflect choices for work wear, going on a job interview, casual weekend looks, and appropriate business networking events. Her blog posts will include photos as well as detailed descriptions of the featured accessories, and throughout the month, she will offer a variety of tips on how to economically build a signature style.
“We can all learn more about making the most of our wardrobe. Small tweaks and creativity to our closets can produce infinite outfits and looks,” said Stephenson.

Completed Events, L.L.Bean Events
I hope Dress for Success is planning to do more than just showcase a dress from LL Bean. I would love to donate my suits that no longer fit me but are still stylish and in good condition. Please encourage them to take donations of women’s suits, as that is what they (Dress for Success) are (or were?) known for.
I am sure there will be drop offs identified during this event. Thank you so much for supporting the organization.
